We had the great privilege and honor to participate for the first time in the Youth Aliance of Tecate on the night of Saturday, May 20th.

Each month the youth groups from all churches in Tecate, unite for a great big service. It is normal for a few hundred to show up!

About 200 youth, on-fire-for-Christ, came together this night to solely worship our Lord and pray for our families, friends, schools, and Tecate.

I (Natalie Nicholson) painted a painting reflecting Joel 2:28-32, a verse that tied into the night’s theme (Jeremiah 33:3) and then got the opportunity to share about the ministry of Studio Del Creador, encourging others to pursue their dreams and use their God-given talents for the kingdom of God.

I was left in awe as I watched so many youth choosing to spend their Saturday night worshipping our Lord, over doing any of the many other things they could’ve been doing.

We are super excited for this very important connection and for how God will work through this special connection of ministries here in Tecate.

On Monday, April 25th, SDC had the privilege to visit Open Arm Childcare Ministries in La Mision, BC (about 1 1/2 hours southwest of SDC, just south of Rosarito). Open Arms provides no-cost childcare to about 50 children in need, helping keep kids off the streets and out of orphanages.

We gathered with the mothers of the daycare children to teach a class on handmade headbands and accessorie making, and SDC volunteer Irma, taught embroidery. The idea is to teach the mothers crafts so that later they can work on projects and then sell them in the ministry’s souvenir gift shop when missions teams come down to serve.

The woman created a great array of accessories…each unique and special in their own way. Thank you Open Arms for the invitation! We are happy to share our talents and gifts with you. We pray for lots of blessings for your new shop!

Studio Del Creador was blessed by a two-day visit from Ywam’s Norway Creative Arts group. During the month of April, eight Ywam students have been traveling through Mexico ministering through the creative arts. They heard about the studio and made visit from Tijuana to Tecate.

They taught how to make handmade books, made completely by hand.

They taught a Hip Hop for God dance class that our students LOVED.

The studio was full of people, young and older alike and the atmosphere was filled with the love and joy of the Lord.  

The Ywam students, each specially gifted, spent one-on-one time with our studio participants, helping them improve in their art skills.

They prayed over people.

One woman who is not a believer, was in tears after a special prayer and told us that she was so thankful God had put the Ywam team in her path, as she felt especially blessed. Seeds of love were planted in her beautiful soul.  

Two of the Ywam students shared their music talents with our musicians, teaching improvision and new secrets to playing. Our music teacher was greatly blessed with learning new techniques that he will be able to continue teaching even as the Ywam team is no longer with us.

Studio Del Creador was greatly impacted by the love and talent of Ywam’s Creative Arts 2011 team. THANK YOU for visiting us all the way from Norway!
